Kent Veg Box for Schools

Following on from discussions with a customer, we have come up with a scheme that allows schools to work with us to supply veg boxes to the families and earn a commission for the school. Basically as we will deliver several boxes to one site for parents to collect we pass the saving on delivery charges, to the school. This amounts to £1 per box per delivery.

More details below but the main points are:

• Children get used to local veg and fruit and taking it home
• Children are involved in recycling boxes and bags
  
• School earns funds for use in whatever way they like.
• School families (& teachers!) are encouraged to eat local veg
• Payments are dealt with by Kent Veg Box, direct with the parents.

The box scheme aims to provide our customers with a weekly delivery of seasonal produce containing vegetables and salads. We also do fruit boxes.

By having the boxes delivered to your school for you to pick up we save money on delivery costs, so we are passing that saving onto your school in cash. For every box delivered to your school we will pass £1 to them to do with as they wish. So not only are you getting fresh local eco-friendly veg, but your school benefits as well.

So what’s in the Box?

The box will contain 5-7 different seasonal items. Year round staples include potatoes & carrots. In the summer months lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers make an appearance. . There is a wide and varied selection of items used during the year.

ALL of our veg box scheme supplies comes from KENT farmers, so your can be sure of supporting the local economy and reducing food miles.

You can specify up to 3 dislikes that will not be used in your box. Each month a newsletter will be produced, providing information and recipes for the current vegetables. Also you can go online and choose any other items from the shop and have them added to your box for delivery.

Payment

Payment is made by debit/credit card and is charged monthly in advance. You can notify us of any holidays and will credit your account with the cost of that week. In the school holidays we will deliver to your homes. The prices above include the £1 donation per box per week to your school.

All card information is held securely and destroyed once you leave the scheme. Any credits for holiday etc. will be held and adjusted in the following month. There is no minimum period or contract – you can leave at any point.

We will deliver to the school on Thursday or Friday, in time for you to collect the box when the school is over. The veg comes in an open cardboard box, which we will ask you to return the following week as we re-use them, as well as the paper bags. Your children can bring them into school on Thursday morning so we can get them when we drop off.
